NSIP was created by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016 with the mandate of lifting citizens out of poverty through a number of social interventions, which include Job Creation Programmer, National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme , Conditional Cash Transfer Programme and Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme .
Declaring the training open at Steve Azaiki Library in Yenegoa, the Bayelsa State capital, the minister in charge of the ministry, Sediya Umar Faroug, said the monitors are important components of NSIP in ensuring that the programmes are closely monitored in every local government. Represented by Mrs. Margaret Chuka-Ogwude, the team leader said independent monitors assess the programme in schools, communities, and market clusters with a clear focus of making sure that the primary objectives of the schedule are achieved.
She said: “Training and onboarding of the Stream 2 independent nutria was flagged off on the June 9, 2022 in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory and we are here to carry out the same programme. “Using the Social Investment Management Information System application, our Stream 1 monitors have been uploading their reports on a daily basis and this gives us good visibility into programme implementation at various communities. The incoming Stream 2 Independent Monitors are expected to continue using the same platform to report their activities from the field.”
