Ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, former Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, has named Odion Ighalo as the best striker in the current squad.
Gernot Rohr handed Paul Onuachi his debut against Egypt in an international friendly in March and the lanky forward hit the winner in the first minute of the game. Rohr has also handed opportunities to Victor Osimhen and Isaac Success to lead the Super Eagles attack, but Aiyegbeni believes Ighalo’s wealth of experience in the team and his current rich vein of form give him an edge above them all.“He’s is the Super Eagles best striker at the moment, no doubt.
“They have good strikers coming into the team at the moment – the likes of Osimhen, Onuachu and the likes, but he possesses everything you need in a striker to get the goals.“Osimhen is another player who could fill the void in his absence, but with decent supplies Ighalo will deliver,” Yakubu told Completesports.
