Abia govt to distribute lockdown palliatives through churches, mosques

This was contained in a press statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information, John Okiyi Kalu and issued to reporters in Umuahia, on Tuesday.

The Items are to be delivered to churches and mosques in the state through their representatives according to the schedule adopted by the COVID-19 Committee. “Each Church will receive the following items: bags of rice, bags of beans, bags of Garri, tubers of yam, hand sanitizers, face masks and cash to take care of vulnerable persons among their members. The designated representatives have already been contacted”.

“There will also be a mop-up exercise of the distributions to include those who might have missed out in the initial phases of the deliveries. Such people will be reached through the traditional rulers, community president generals, and ward leaders”.

The main religion of that black Country called Nigeria is corruption any other religion is just a window dressing.

Abia state the worst state in Africa.

Then where will other religious worshipper's pick up their palliatives? Don't use religious centers it can cause disunity.

👎👎 Are churches and mosques the only center's to pick up this palliatives? Federal and state Govt shld pls hands-off religion.

Better

Are people to 'gather' in the churches and mosques?, What happens to 'Social distancing?'.

Ppl de lock down and Abia State wan follow.

Very sound approach. The religious organizations have structures that can be utilized appropriately to get the stimulus packages to a vast majority. I hope this model of distribution is replicated across states.

Its a welcome one

What about those who doesn't go to church?

Will they go to the shrines too?
