Bad behavior, lies, disrespect, etc, should be denounced -period. Pointing out these kinds of tit-for-tats does not let one person of the hook for bad behavior simply because someone else also acted poorly. There is a nugget of wisdom in the Carolyn Hax column from January 6th in which she wrote,"In 25 years' worth of dysfunction mail, the single most reliable predictor of relationship misery is a partner who, in some combination, won't look inward, admit fault….. ." It would be refreshing if all letter writers were honest about the bad behavior of all people instead of attempting to deflect or excuse behavior of those we agree with.
