A joint statement from all parties said the settlement will create a path of cooperation among the water agency, the villages involved and the water companies.“This settlement will avoid the time and expense of further litigation for all parties and sets the framework of collaboration for the future,” the statement said. “Both sides look forward to building on this new partnership to deliver clean and safe drinking water to the customer at a cost-effective rate.
Bolingbrook and four other towns settled a lawsuit and agreed not to seize control of a water pipeline from the American Lake Water Co. Alexander-Basta said she feels there is a spirit of cooperation between new leadership at Illinois American Water and the municipalities, and said she looks forward to working with the utility companies and not against them.
