Thousands of Urus' are recalled but Lamborghini says only a few will need new rivets to keep their hoods safely attached
Lamborghini is recalling 2,133 Urus SUV s over hoods that could open during driving The issue lies in rivets that hold the hood latch strikers in place The automaker will replace these parts as part of the safety remedy Performance at high speed is a part of Lamborghini 's DNA but more speed equals more stress. Now, a new recall of the Urus SUV comes due to the stress of high-speed driving and the danger that such stress could cause the hood to fly up.
At high speeds, above 94 mph , that air rushing in could cause the latch to fail. In that sort of situation, the driver could end up with a windshield full of hood. Clearly, that's a big safety risk. As such, the recall filed with the NHTSA requires all potentially affected cars to come in for service. Lamborghini techs will inspect the part and repair it or install a striker support plate for free.
