While it didrain on everyone yesterday, it was the most promising coverage of showers we have seen in quite some time! With a few showers remaining this morning, and additional isolated to widely scattered activity is possible Thursday through Veterans Day weekend.
When it is not actively raining - which is most hours each given day across central and south Alabama - we are dealing with mostly cloudy conditions and a few small bits of sunshine; highs maxed out in the upper 70s to low 80s for most of our area. Tonight lows drop, but not much... 60s are expected by morning, which is much warmer than normal for November.Hurricane Rafael was, at its strongest point, a major category 3 storm moving over the western half of Cuba on Wednesday. As of early this morning, the center of the storm is completely over the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and that is where it will likely stay...
The reason it starts to weaken is the dip in water temperature and high confidence that the storm will interact with a lot of wind shear likely to develop over the Gulf; we suspect that in the next 5-7 this likely won’t bring major, direct impacts to the northern Gulf coast. Long range forecast data shows a cold front expected to push across the area next week. That could, in turn, bring much colder air to the region.
