Costco Wholesale Corp. is expanding its footprint in Texas with a new store planned for the rapidly growing city of New Braunfels. The warehouse club will invest $37 million in a 158,000-square-foot facility and gas station, joining a thriving community experiencing significant population growth.

Costco Wholesale Corp. is set to open a new warehouse club in the rapidly expanding city of New Braunfels , Texas . The company has filed plans with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for a $37 million project that will include a 158,000-square-foot store and a gas station at 330 Addstine Lane. Construction is anticipated to commence in September and conclude in March 2026.

The property, located near Kohlenberg Road and Interstate 35, is owned by a company affiliated with Southstar, the developer of the sprawling 1,900-acre Mayfair community. This mixed-use development will encompass approximately 6,000 residential units, including single-family homes, duplexes, townhomes, and apartments, along with 300 acres of commercial space, 300 acres of parks, and multiple schools.Gretchen Howell, chief operating officer of Southstar, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Costco and the city of New Braunfels to bring the warehouse club to Mayfair. The addition of a Costco store has been a long-anticipated development within the Mayfair area. While Costco declined to comment on future store locations until closer to the opening date, typically two to three months prior, it is expected that the New Braunfels store will further solidify the company's presence in the region. Costco already operates four stores in the San Antonio metropolitan area, including locations on the West Side, near the University of Texas at San Antonio, in the Stone Oak area, and in Selma. The most recent addition was the store at 191 W. Loop 1604 S, which opened in 2021. In addition, Costco has stores in Kyle and Austin, northeast of New Braunfels. The company's entry into the New Braunfels market coincides with a period of significant population growth in the area. According to recent census data, New Braunfels experienced a 12.49% population increase from 2022 to 2023, reaching 110,961 residents, placing it among the top 10 cities nationwide with the highest population gains during that timeframe. Comal County's population also surged by 5% to 193,928. The addition of a Costco store is expected to cater to the growing demand for groceries and retail services in this thriving community
