The Alabama National Fair is back in the capital city.
fair started Friday with WSFA 12 News Day. Entry on opening day was just $1 with a nonperishable item for the Heart of Alabama Food Bank.
The fair isn’t just about the rides, animals or food. It also raises money for local charitable organizations. “Funds that are raised right here, right now, will go back into those organizations, and it’s good for the kids and the families in our community,” said Montgomery District 12 Councilwoman Marche Johnson.
The fair has increased security measures this year with metal detection security at the entrance and a clear bag policy. They also have many police officers patrolling the fair the entire time it is open. “Everything that we do here, we take into consideration that we want our people to feel safe,” said Montgomery County Sheriff Derrick Cunningham.over the fair’s 11 days, including R&B group Dru Hill and country singer Dylan Scott.You can find more information about tickets, parking and daily schedules on theNot reading this story on the WSFA News App?
