Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi told reporters it was four Umno assemblymen and not five when reporters asked him about what action the party would take of the assemblymen who supported GRS chairman Datuk Hajiji Noor to remain as Chief Minister.When contacted later, Sabah Umno secretary Datuk Jafry Ariffin explained that Sindumin assemblyman Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob had applied to join Umno but had yet to be accepted.
Their move together with Dr Yusof enabled GRS led by Hajiji to secure a 44-seat majority in the 79-member state assembly. "We discussed this issue in the meeting and we have to find the best and amicable solutions which we will announce later," he told reporters after chairing a special meeting with Sabah Umno leaders.
