Hakim Collin Lawrence Sequerah membuat keputusan itu atas alasan Ahmad Zahid sudah beberapa kali melakukan umrah sejak 30 tahun lalu dan kali ini beliau berhadapan dengan kes mahkamah yang serius.
“Daripada pemahaman saya terhadap hujah yang dikemukakan walaupun ibadah umrah disyorkan pada bulan Ramadan, tetapi bukan sesuatu yang wajib. Ia bukan keperluan mendesak dan tiada kewajiban untuk melaksanakan umrah,” katanya. Beliau didakwa menggunakan dana itu untuk membuat enam pembayaran bagi kad kredit persendirian, polisi insurans dan lesen kenderaan persendirian, kiriman wang kepada sebuah firma guaman serta sumbangan kepada Persatuan Bolasepak Polis Diraja Malaysia.
