Youth volleyball coach apologises for slapping players, claims was ‘motivating’ them

MELAKA, Jan 4 — The volleyball coach who is involved in the controversy of slapping his players as viral on social media earlier, has apologised openly for his action.

"I wish to apologise to all players especially the two players involved, the parents, my own club Mastanah and the Malaysian Volleyball Association as well as the volleyball community in Malaysia,” he said in a press conference at the Melaka State Sports Council office in Krubong here today. Saiful Hadee said in the training he conducted earlier, he also applied various types of approaches which are psychological, intensive and physical in shaping his players.

Meanwhile, Shanmugam said all decisions to be taken against Saiful Hadee will be decided by the Malaysian Volleyball Association after the association's investigation with the Ministry of Education is completed.

Actually PE teachers in our days (1960s) did slap and 'wollap' us and we became better because of that. Till today we still have great respect for them. But times have changed since. Even parents can't do that to own children. And, men can be women, women can be men, or both!!

This coach needs to be sent for psychiatry evaluation. He needs help.

When I look at the video, the slapping motion doesn't look aggressive by someone who is angry. Nevertheless, getting physical with your trainees is not right. There are other ways to motivate

Since when slapping in public can be motivating? It has the opposite effect

FAM should hire this guy to replace Kim Pang Gon. For sure he can motivate our national football team to win the 2026 World Cup.
