It will soon be seven months since Malaysia first went into lockdown, but the Covid-19 bill has yet to be gazetted. FMTNews Covid19 Pandemic

The people and businesses may also want to know when the Covid-19 bill or the Temporary Measures for Reducing the Impact of Coronavirus Disease 2019 Bill 2020, which has been passed by the Dewan Rakyat on Aug 25 and the Dewan Negara on Sept 22, will become law. The bill has yet to be presented to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for His Majesty’s assent under Article 66 of the Federal Constitution, following which it has to be gazetted to have the force of law.

Similar Covid-19 legislation in other jurisdictions have long been passed to provide for legislative measures to deal with the impact of the pandemic. For example, Singapore passed the Covid-19 Act 2020 as early as April 7. Come this weekend, it will be seven months since the country first went into nationwide lockdown.
