WhatsApp now enables users to set disappearing messages for private and group chats by default, along with two new delete-by durations.when the feature is enabled, all new one-on-one chats the user or another person starts will be set to disappear at their chosen duration. The two new durations for disappearing messages are 24 hours and 90 days, in addition to the existing option of seven days.chat, letting users turn it on for groups they create.
WhatsApp added that the new feature is optional and will not change or delete any existing chats. Users can also change a specific conversation back to remaining permanent. “Deciding how long a message lasts should be in your hands. We’ve become accustomed to leaving a digital copy of just about everything we type without even thinking about it. It’s become the equivalent of a note taker following us around making a permanent record of everything we’ve said,” it said, on its blog.
