GEORGE TOWN: The annual Wesak Day procession has kicked off with thousands of devotees gathering at the Malaysian Buddhist Association (MBA) on Burma Road.

The 7km procession will pass through Pangkor Road, Kelawei Road, Burma Lane, Burma Road, Peel Avenue, Macalister Road, Anson Road and Madras Lane,

before returning to the MBA.Earlier, devotees were seen lighting joss sticks, offering flowers and taking part in chanting sessions at the association's hall.
