PETALING JAYA: Malaysia has become one of the signatories to the Convention on the International Organisation for Marine Aids to Navigation on Tuesday (March 16).

Speaking on the signing, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said as a signatory nation, Malaysia will contribute in making this convention the key to enhancing the safety and efficiency of maritime navigation.

"We are honoured to be one of the signatories to the Convention on the International Organisation for Marine Aids to Navigation in Putrajaya," added Dr Wee. "Malaysia is also proud to be among the first signatories to this Convention, acting as the host of the IALA Diplomatic Conference held on 25-28 February 2020. One year from now, we hope the convention can be ratified and entered into force successfully," he said.
