Water woes in Perak to be resolved by tomorrow

In Manjung and Perak Tengah, 79,360 consumer accounts are affected by a water cut following a burst pipe at the treatment plant. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, April 2, 2023.

Its general manager Ishak Abd Rahman said this depends on good weather as the authority is connecting new pipes. This process is expected to be completed between 4am and 6am tomorrow, with the water supply recovering in stages. “Some parts of the district will receive less water as pressure is still low, but we can supply around 12 to 15 million gallons within a day, and obviously water provided through lorry tankers will not be enough as there are over 70,000 accounts affected, but we will do our best,” he told Bernama today.

The affected areas include Ayer Tawar, Sitiawan, Seri Manjung, Lekir, Kayan, Pangkor and Lumut in Manjung district, while in Perak Tengah, Seberang Perak, Changkat Lada, Kampung Gajah, Bukit Chawi, Simpang Renggam and Hujung Rintis are affected.
