KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has dismissed calls for her to step down as Deputy Prime Minister and make way for her husband Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“I don’t think the matter arises because we have promised before that the Prime Minister is Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and I am the deputy,” she said when met on the sidelines of the Cyber Defence Conference on Tuesday .“As stated before, when Anwar becomes the Prime Minister, I will step down; so there are no issues,” she added.

Jeram assemblyman Mohd Shaid Rosli said Anwar becoming the Deputy Prime Minister was a necessary step for him to succeed Dr Mahathir as Prime Minister. Otai Reformis, a pro-Anwar group, has also urged Dr Mahathir to step down so that Anwar can become the next premier.

she should.

I stand corrected. I thought the DPM position was given to the party president. Now that the party leadership has changed, by political convention and the spirit of power sharing within PH, shouldn’t it be Anwar now?

Step down.

Why must she?

Bagi la Bang Non anwaribrahim jadi TPM, senang sikit peralihan ke jawatan PM tu nanti. Apa ni bini sendiri pun tak make way untuk suami tercinta?
