has initiated a recall for about 106,900 vehicles worldwide over a rare issue affecting the brake-by-wire system. The recall covers most Volvo models including the C40, XC40, S60, XC60, V60, V90 and XC90., the in-vehicle diagnostic test to check the grounding of the system can trigger a fault with the Brake Control Module 2 . When the fault is triggered, the vehicle will revert to its hydraulic system so that drivers can still stop the car.
The issue may affect other advanced driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control and one-pedal driving. However, it does not affect drivers’ ability to apply the brakes manually to stop the car. If the fault is triggered, drivers will be alerted with a warning message and a malfunction lamp in the instrument cluster..
