The event, which is held in Nilai, Negri Sembilan in five sessions from Nov 26 to 28, kicked off with the opening ceremony officiated by USIM chancellor Tunku Ampuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud yesterday.
USIM’s convocation this year is themed “Graduates with Integrated Knowledge Lead Sustainable Development” in conjunction with the graduation of the first batch of the Bachelor of Islamic Banking and Finance with Honours programme from the Faculty of Economics and Muamalat. “I am confident that USIM graduates will never be a liability to the community, but will also share their strengths for the benefit of the entire community. I remain positive that with the strength that USIM graduates have, they will remain relevant in today’s technological and modern advances, remain relevant in Malaysian society and remain significant in contributing to today’s and future society.
USIM’s first registrar Addenan Abdul Rahman, who served the institution between 2000-2009 while it was still known as Kolej Universiti Islam Malaysia , was awarded an honorary Master’s Degree in Da’wah and Islamic Management. He was one of the founders of USIM / KUIM and worked with minimal resources during its early years.
