According to a panel discussion on"Understanding China's Vision and Dream" at the Malaysia-China Outlook Forum 2019 on Monday , one of the targets is that the United States expects China to restructure its economic model, something that China will not comply with.
"China has already opened up its market. As for the overhaul of China's economic development model, this is something that will not happen.Additionally, there are contradictory goals that are set by the United States of what it wants China to do, such as wanting China to purchase more American products.
"Firstly, the export centre of China today is less critical on the overall China economy compared with 10 to 20 years ago. Meanwhile, UM Institute of China Studies senior research fellow Cheong Kee Cheok said China would have to make reforms and restructure part of its economy.
