MIRI: Urgent food aid will be sent to squatter resettlement schemes where there are many poor and disabled folks who have run out of food and cash.

Miri MP Dr Michael Teo Yu Keng said his PKR Miri service centre will carry out the food aid delivery on Saturday .

Edwin Lutau and Baki Layu, both of them blind street musicians, said they were among the many people who are running out of cash and food."My welfare aid from last month is all used up. He added that all public bus services to Miri city have been cancelled, so even if he has some cash left, he cannot go to the city to buy food without public transportation as it is 20km away.Dr Teo, when asked on what his service centre can do to help, said he is aware of the plight of these poor folks.

"Unfortunately, our service centre is closed as our staff members had to stop meeting the public due to the movement control order."I am arranging for 200 packs of food items now. There will be at least 200 big packs of rice. By tomorrow, these food aid will reach them," he said.
