PETALING JAYA: Malaysia continued its upward trend of Covid-19 infections with 15,902 recorded yesterday, making it the most cases in a day since the pandemic hit the nation.

With the newest numbers, the nation’s cumulative total now stands at 996,393 cases, inching closer to the one million mark.Of the fatalities, 32 were brought in dead.Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 3.2% of the 15,902 new Covid-19 cases reported were in Categories 3, 4 and 5 when diagnosed.Most or 96.8% of the new Covid-19 patients were in Category 1 and Category 2 .

He said Categories 1 and 2 are low-risk patients who have suitable living spaces that allowed them to be isolated at home.“Those in Category 3, 4 and 5 will be sent to such centres, hospital wards and intensive care units. “This is because most of those in Categories 1 and 2 are isolated at home after meeting the requirements to be isolated at home,” Dr Noor Hisham said.“There are currently 976 active clusters in the country,” he added.
