ROMPIN: Voters have started to accept the partnership between Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan, says the Barisan candidate for the Tioman parliamentary seat, Datuk Seri Mohd Johari Hussain .“We admit that many were surprised with the decision at the start but through ongoing explanations on the nature of the partnership, God willing, the people have started to accept it,” he said when met at the Rompin police headquarters during early voting for the Tioman seat.
Tioman had its elections delayed to Dec 7 following the death of Perikatan Nasional candidate Yunus Ramli before polling. Mohd Johari said the Barisan election machinery was instructed to work with their Pakatan counterparts for campaigning. “The campaign must be aggressive, with strategies to reach voters via a personal touch in order to attract their support.
“There is no need for large-scale activities as what is important is that the workflow of this campaign continues and is run by the Barisan and Pakatan machinery together,” he said.The battle for Tioman is currently a four-cornered fight, with Mohd Johari going up against Nor Idayu Hashim , Osman A. Bakar and Sulaiman Bakar .
