PETALING JAYA: A majority of Malaysians polled in a regional survey say that they are still not ready to take part in cultural events, going to the gym, or even travelling locally or abroad this year.

In contrast, Indonesian, Singaporean, Filipino and Thai respondents were more comfortable taking part in such activities as their countries gradually roll back Covid-19 restrictions to kickstart their economies.

The survey involved 3,000 people in six Asean countries, with 500 respondents from each country: Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines. However, most respondents in the six countries feel that they will not be travelling to other countries any time this year. Meanwhile, respondents from Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand say they are ready to travel domestically and use public transportation earliest between May and July.
