KUALA LUMPUR: Claims that highway users will be paying toll indefinitely following the restructuring of four companies with an extension of the concession period are untrue, says the Works Ministry.

The ministry said concessionaires cannot arbitrarily add on new debts as enshrined in the New Agreement involving the recent restructuring of the four concessionaires."If this restructuring is not allowed in order that the government can save on compensation, then the toll rate increase has to be given, which will then cause a chain reaction where the cost of goods will increase as well," it said in a statement on Saturday .

In the same statement, the ministry also clarified on the alleged fixed cost for the construction and maintenance of the highways and extension of the concession period which has always been worrisome to consumers. The statement also clarified that the extension of the concession period was given only as an indicator to assure Sukuk holders that their investment would be repaid.

For many it’s been a “lifetime”! Anyways if this is the same PetraJayaMP that ignored my complaints regarding Ekovest who during DUKE2 construction spilled concrete onto the roof of my car - it’s obvious why.

They only exist while baby boomers are still alive

It will just last 10 lifetimes ... More than enough to feed the concessionaires until year 3030

It's not about forever. It's about no extention from the current timeliness.

Unlike the money in my wallet, highway tolls seem to stay forever.
