I see no issue provided political leaders are professionally qualified candidates. However to make sure it does not lead to abuse of power and conflict of interest. Similarly the corporate figures if appointed could also lead to same nature of problems. So the choice is hard

Agree with Prof's statement. Appointment by merit is just if the candidate(s) have no affiliation to any political entity nor individuals attach directly with the Government. You can argue all you like but the fact of the matter remains.
