Pengarah Pilihan Raya PH, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yang juga Presiden Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia berkata, calon terbabit akan diumumkan menerusi majlis pengenalan sebelum hari penamaan calon.“Kita dapatkan tokoh terbaik untuk Tanjung Piai,” katanya pada sidang media Majlis Sambutan Hari Pendaftaran Negara 2019 di Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara di Putrajaya, hari ini.
PRK Parlimen Tanjung Piai akan diadakan pada 16 November ini manakala tarikh penamaan calon ditetapkan pada 2 November dan pengundian awal pada 12 November. PRK Tanjung Piai bakal diadakan berikutan kematian penyandangnya Datuk Dr Md Farid Md Rafiq, 42, yang juga Timbalan Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri pada 21 September lalu berikutan komplikasi jantung.
Pada Pilihan Raya Umum ke-14 , Dr Md Farid yang juga pakar bius mewakili Pakatan Harapan-Bersatu memenangi kerusi Parlimen berkenaan dengan majoriti 524 undi.
