Naib Canselornya, Prof. Datuk Dr Kasim Mansor berkata, penyelidikan itu melibatkan Fakulti Pertanian Lestari (FPL) dengan kerjasama fakulti-fakulti dan institut lain di universiti berkenaan.

SANDAKAN: Universiti Malaysia Sabah akan terus mempergiatkan penyelidikan untuk membantu memperkasakan sektor pertanian di negara ini khususnya di Sabah.

“Kerjasama FPL dengan industri khususnya petani berskala besar, kecil dan sederhana di negara ini akan diperhebatkan, ” katanya. Beliau berkata, UMS kini juga mempelopori usaha untuk melahirkan masyarakat yang berinovasi dengan slogan Leading towards Innovative Societies. “Makmal-makmal ini akan digunakan para pelajar dan pensyarah. Sebagai contoh, para pelajar bukan hanya mendalami ilmu kepakaran mereka dalam hal penanaman pokok, pertanian dan sebagainya tetapi pihak industri juga dapat menawarkan fasiliti kepada pelajar,” ujar Dr Kasim.
