Umno leaders say amendment to party constitution sign of unity

KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 — Umno delegates’ agreement to significantly amend the party constitution today showed the unity in the Malay nationalist party heading into an expected general election this year, said senior leaders.

“The constitution that was amended by the party today was decided even during the previous general meeting and that was the decision by the party,” he told reporters after the Umno Special General Meeting at World Trade Centre here today. Instead, he said the party’s political stability would be at the forefront of its campaign for the general election.
