MELAKA: Umno has always honoured the Muafakat Nasional pact and even offered two additional seats to PAS during the 2021 Melaka election, says Datuk Seri Mohamad HasanThe Umno deputy president said PAS wanted a new political partner and refused to cooperate despite being offered a total of five seats.
"They wanted only three state seats but we gave them five. Umno has never abandoned any of their coalition members in Muafakat," he said after visiting the Melaka Barisan Nasional's election machinery centre at Melaka International Trade Centre in Ayer Keroh here on Sunday ."The Muafakat Nasional charter is an electoral pact, not an agreement we were bound to adhere to,"he said.
He was asked to comment on PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man's statement on Saturday that his party was prepared to face GE15 without allying with Barisan. Mohamad Hasan also brushed aside talk that Barisan would not be ready to face GE15 if Parliament was dissolved soon.
