“With great regret, we must announce that this year’s Glastonbury Festival will not take place, and that this will be another enforced fallow year for us,” organisers Michael and Emily Eavis said in a statement on Twitter. Glastonbury Festival, held on a dairy farm in southwest England, was forced to cancel in 2020 — the year of the event’s 50th anniversary — because of coronavirus restrictions after some 135,000 people had bought tickets. This year’s cancellation follows warnings earlier this month from the music sector that the coronavirus has devastated the industry, and annual summer festivals could disappear for good without more government support.
