U Mobile customers still getting 5G after all 😇 UMobile TechNave

The news about Maxis and U Mobile backing out of taking up stakes in Digital Nasional Berhad for the 5G deal came out last night. Fast enough, U Mobile has made a statement today to clarify the situation and ensure its customers that 5G services will still get provided through the telco company.

In a public release, U Mobile says it's"supportive of the government's vision of a single wholesale network model for 5G deployment in Malaysia and is grateful to have been invited by the government to invest in DNB". However, after"extensive discussions and deliberations on the matter and taking into consideration the terms of the investment", it has decided not to invest in DNB.

Despite skipping the investment, the company promises that it does not affect its capability to provide 5G services as it still has access to DNB's 5G network infrastructure governed by a separate access agreement. It's now in discussion to finalise the 5G access agreement with DNB. Once done, U Mobile will proceed with the deployment of the 5G network.
