KOTA KINABALU: Two women - one of them a civil servant - have been detained by Sabah Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Tawau on Wednesday (Jan 4) for allegedly soliciting and receiving a RM400 bribe.

According to sources, the suspects aged 50 and 38, stationed at Tawau syariah court, received the gratification in relation to processing a court order.

They were apprehended at Tawau MACC branch office when they came in to give their statements at 5.30pm. Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy confirmed the arrests and said the case was being investigated under Section 17 of MACC Act 2009, and that the suspects will be held 24 hours for further investigations.
