Kota Kinabalu: .Out of the 20 candidates, 18 were men and two women. The most numbers were in Sandakan with three candidates, two each in Tuaran Papar, Beaufort, Tenom and Tawau, and one each in Kudat, Kota Marudu, Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Libaran, Batu Sapi and Kalabakan.The most symbols used were a tree , key , pen , book , elephant , horse , aeroplane , telephone and tractor .
The candidates are Hu Chang Lik @ Hii Chang Lik, Lokeman Hazli Azali and Lita Tan Abdullah - all in Sandakan, Noortaip Suhaili and Bobby Lewat in Tuaran, Johnny Sitamin and Datuk Chin Chian Siong @ Norbert Chin in Papar, Matlani Sabli and John @ Christopher O.T.

'Also, MCA will contest in the parliamentary seat of Kepong in the 15th General Election, while MIC will contest in Batu. 'This is accomplished through Barisan Nasional’s spirit of consultation and mutual understanding,' he said in a statement on Friday (Nov 4). Chong said the misunderstanding in Batu MCA due to seat allocation is understandable. 'But, it doesn't affect the Barisan Nasional spirit. It’s normal that people need a little time to adjust,” he said. Chong added that the Kepong candidate will be a 30-year-old who will 'work to win the people's support.' However, he did not reveal the name of the candidate for Kepong. Chong acknowledged that the party hopes that voters will grant Barisan-MCA an opportunity in this general election to bring a fresh change to Kepong, and along with it development and progress.
