PUTRAJAYA: A gig workers' commission is being planned by the government to provide training and reskilling for workers with technical and vocational education and training (TVET) courses, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Deputy Prime Minister said the government is committed to facilitating suitable TVET courses for gig workers.

“When these workers reach a certain age, they can no longer carry out the same job. So with upskilling, it will help them to pursue another field that is more appropriate for their age based on market demand. "The Human Resources Ministry is very concerned about the future of gig workers, and as such, we will prepare the Cabinet papers on this commission,” said Ahmad Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, here on Tuesday .

Earlier, Ahmad Zahid launched the Madani TVET portal and witnessed the exchange of memoranda of understanding between Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar and several government-linked companies and the private sector.to our Premium Plan for an ad-free and unlimited reading experience!
