US leader says measure will involve a programme that protects immigrants from deportation. FMTNews

July 11, 2020 8:21 AMWASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump said on Friday he will sign an executive order on immigration in the next few weeks with a road to citizenship for migrants who are in the US illegally but arrived in the country as children.

“I’m going to do a big executive order. … And I’m going to make Daca a part of it,” Trump said. “We’re going to have a road to citizenship.” The ruling did not prevent Trump from trying again to end the programme. But his administration may find it difficult to rescind it – and win any ensuing legal battle – before the Nov 3 election in which he is seeking a second term in office.
