GEORGE TOWN: Several trees were uprooted and roofs of stalls were blown off in Bayan Lepas and Batu Maung during a freak storm in the wee hours of Saturday (July 22).

The Penang Island City Council emergency squad which sprang into action managed to clear the fallen trees and removed them from several roads.

It said for any complaints on floods, landslides and fallen trees, the public can contact the MBPP hotline at 04-263 7000/04-263 7637 or WhatsApp to 016-200 4082. Meanwhile, the Public Works Department had to carry out temporary work repairs on the Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah flyover after pictures of uneven surfaces appeared on social media, putting the lives of vehicle owners, especially motorcyclists in danger.
