Her comment sparked a furious reaction from trans rights campaigners, who have criticised Rowling’s remarks on transgender issues repeatedly in recent weeks. “‘People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?” Rowling tweeted. “JK Rowling is not a scientist. She is not a doctor. She is not an expert on gender. She is not a supporter of our community,” Bergdorf said on Twitter.
