GAZA: Penghantaran pertama bantuan kemanusiaan tiba di Gaza melalui jeti terapung sementara yang dibina oleh angkatan tentera Amerika Syarikat , pada Jumaat.
Komando Pusat AS berkata, trak bantuan mula bergerak di laluan darat kira-kira pukul 9.00 pagi , semalam. Jeti itu dijangka menyediakan akses untuk 90 trak muatan bantuan dan meningkat kepada 150 trak apabila ia beroperasi sepenuhnya. Kakitangan British bekerjasama dengan rakan sejawatan AS di atas RFA Cardigan Bay untuk membina dan mengendalikan jeti itu.
AS mula membina pangkalan terapung minggu lalu untuk memudahkan penghantaran bantuan ke Gaza ketika Israel meneruskan operasi ketenteraannya menentang Hamas.Bantuan itu kemudian disaring sebelum dimuatkan ke kapal untuk dihantar ke jeti.Kapal tentera AS yang lebih kecil mampu membawa antara lima hingga 15 lori bantuan, kemudian mengangkutnya ke jeti terapung iaitu sepanjang beberapa ratus meter dan dibina di kawasan pantai di Gaza.
