PETALING JAYA: Total trade with China from January to November 2021 saw a 27.2% increase compared to the corresponding period in 2020, says Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.

The Foreign Minister said this amounted to RM378.95bil in total trade from Jan to Nov 2021 compared to RM329.77bil during the same period in 2020.

"Total exports also saw an increase by 19.7% to RM171.99bil whereas our total imports expanded by as much as 34.2% equivalent to RM206.96bil," said Saifuddin virtually at the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce ) Lunar New Year celebrations. He added that apart from collaborations towards vaccine research and development, the Memorandum of Understanding on Digital Telecommunications Cooperation and Film Co-Production Agreement was also nearing the final stages of conclusion.

Saifuddin also extended his appreciation to China for their third contribution of two million Sinovac vaccines and attributed it as a testimony towards their strong desire for cooperation towards addressing the pandemic.
