TPM Fadillah selar lobi antiminyak sawit

“Inilah kebenarannya, jumlah kekal kukuh pada 11,000 sejak lima tahun lepas. Sudah tiba masanya untuk menukar tumpuan kita,” katanya dalam ucaptama mengenai ‘pada International Sustainable Palm Oil Forum di London, hari ini.

Turut hadir Pesuruhjaya Tinggi Malaysia ke United Kingdom Zakri Jaafar, Timbalan Menteri Perancangan Bandar, Pentadbiran Tanah dan Alam Sekitar Sarawak Len Talif Salleh, Timbalan Menteri Tenaga dan Kelestarian Alam Sekitar Sarawak Dr Hazland Abang Hipni dan Ketua Setiausaha Kementerian Perladangan dan Komoditi Mad Zaidi Mohd Karli.

“Ini bukan sekadar kata-kata saya Institut Penyelidikan Produk Hutan dan Perhutanan Jepun turut mengesahkan bahawa kelapa sawit mengatasi hutan semula jadi dari segi keupayaannya menyerap sehingga empat kali lebih banyak karbon dioksida. Oleh itu, apabila berbicara mengenai penjujukan karbon, minyak sawit jauh lebih tinggi daripada soya, minyak sesawi dan bunga matahari,” katanya.Fadillah turut memberi jaminan Malaysia kekal tegas dalam komitmennya terhadap usaha kelestarian dan pemuliharaan.

Fadillah menyifatkan yayasan tersebut jelas sebagai bukti sokongan padu Malaysia terhadap inisiatif pemuliharaan dalam industri minyak sawit. Setakat ini, sektor komoditi menggaji hampir 450,000 orang pekebun kecil sama ada di kelompok persendirian atau pekebun kecil di tanah-tanah rancangan.
