KOTA KINABALU: A tourist guide has been arrested in connection with an alleged death threat made against a 28-year-old man during an argument in Semporna.

Semporna district police chief Supt Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the victim claimed he had received such a threat during a fight between him and several other men at a private school managed by a non-governmental organisation at about 10am on June 15.

“The incident is believed to have happened when a group of tour guides were not happy with the victim, who was recording tourists taking pictures at the scene of the incident.“But some of the tour guides were said to have threatened to kill the victim,” Supt Farhan said in a statement yesterday. He said police arrested a 29-year-old man on Saturday and he was being investigated for criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code.

Supt Mohd Farhan also urged any witnesses to contact investigation officer Sergeant Ruslan Hardi Hamil at 016-8050885 or any nearby police station.
