However, he noted that amendments to the relevant act should not only focus on the consumption of alcoholic beverages but also include drugs, medication or any other substances that may have an effect on driving. He stressed that the foundation was not against individuals consuming alcohol but strongly opposes drink driving.On Saturday , Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said amendments to the Road Transport Act would be expedited.

Drunk drivers who cause deaths could face a maximum fine of RM20,000 and a jail term of up to 10 years.
