“There is an awful lot to get ready and be tracking in order for us to say things will work smoothly on the 1st of January,” Elizabeth de Jong, director of policy at the industry group Logistics UK, told a committee hearing in parliament. Road Haulage Association chief executive Richard Burnett said the industry’s last meeting with Gove was a “washout” and hoped for a lot more clarity when they next meet with the minister on Friday.
