GEORGE TOWN: The 20-year-old man who allegedly threatened to share private photos of a 17-year-old schoolgirl, leading to her suicide on Aug 3, will be charged at the Balik Pulau Magistrate’s Court here at 8am on Wednesday (Aug 19).

Balik Pulau OCPD Supt A. Anbalagan said the man would be charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Section 292 of the Penal Code for circulating obscene materials.

Supt Anbalagan said the man was earlier arrested in connection with the incident on Aug 3, where police received a distress call from the public about the schoolgirl who was found dead at a condominium in Bayan Lepas. Prior to this, it was reported that the police had seized a mobile phone belonging to the man which contained pictures that included women's breasts and the genitals of unidentified individuals.

On Aug 11, Penang police chief Comm Datuk Sahabudin Manan reportedly said the man was suspected of having bullied others in social media by using the same modus operandi.
