Thanksgiving: One tonne of durians given out to frontliners in Ipoh
IPOH: About one tonne of durians has been distributed to frontliners in Ipoh as a gesture of thanks.
“Usually, during durian season, traders were able to sell their produce, but since the movement control order is in place, we’ve received some complaints that they were unable to sell it due to low customer turnout.“We bought the durians from these traders and distributed them to frontliners to thank them for their efforts in fighting the Covid-19 virus,” he said after handing over a batch of durians to frontliners at Stadium Indera Mulia vaccination centre on Monday (Aug 2).
He added that at least four tonnes of the King of Fruits would be distributed next week.Razman Zakaria (in white kopiah) distributed the durians to the frontliners for their contribution.“We are giving these durians to our medical frontliners, as well as the police and army stationed at roadblocks.
“For now, we are giving it to the frontliners in Ipoh. We have about 250 and 260 frontliners working in the city, so they will get three to four durians each,” he said, adding that they distributed the fruit at several roadblocks in the city, including Jelapang and Simpang Pulai. headtopics.com
