The findings were from a study involving 3,056 high school and vocational students in September and October. It found that 8.1 per cent of students here spent more than eight hours a day playing online games during the weekends.
The study’s lead author, Teerarat Pantawee Wongtanaanek, who is also Radio and Media Association for Children and Youth president, said almost two-thirds of the students said they played online games for three to five hours a day.quoted her as saying that certain games had been linked to aggression and mood changes in the players.
She said some players also admitted that they played online gambling games, spending an average of 1,000 baht a month. She urged all parties to join hands in efforts to equip teachers and parents with methods to inculcate good gaming habits and discipline in youth.It is expected to be ready in March next year.
