LANGKAWI: A man is believed to have drowned while picking clams at Pantai Pasir Berdengung along Jalan Kuala Muda here on Sunday (June 27).

Langkawi OCPD Asst Comm Shariman Ashari said the 53-year-old Thai national went missing during low tide at the beach in the 10am incident.

"Kuala Teriang police station received a distress call from the public informing them about the incident," he said in a statement. ACP Shariman said an emergency action control post has been set up by the police and Fire and Rescue Department at the location for the search and rescue operation.
