Iga Swiatek poses with the trophy after winning the final match of the French Open today.

The unseeded 19-year-old, who did not drop a set throughout the claycourt tournament, is the youngest winner since Monica Seles lifted the Suzanne Lenglen Cup in 1992. “Two years ago I won a junior Grand Slam and now I’m here. It feels like such a short time. I’m just overwhelmed,” she added as a sorry Kenin watched from her chair in tears.

Kenin, who was gunning for a second major title after winning this year’s Australian Open, received an off-court medical treatment on her left thigh after the third game of the second set.
